Through this alliance, customers of telecommunications professionals may use different tools with Microsoft manufacturing from Vodafone mobile phones, such as Exchange, Communicator, LiveMeeting and SharePoint. This will allow them to use different solutions to assist in the cloud with their own colleagues or people from other companies, from e-mail use and management of schedules and contacts to create and modify documents in real time.

Jose Luis Cuerda, director of marketing for the Enterprise Business Unit of Vodafone, has emerged as major advantages for these business users “do not need the infrastructure, resulting in huge cost savings, which could benear 20% in SMEs and close to 56% for companies with over 250 employees. Yet another positive aspect of these solutions is the accessibility of services from any location, mobility in which the operator has much to say.

Rope has indicated that these services will be present at all terminals of its business customers advanced, both in those who have Windows Mobile, as those who work with other platforms.

For its part, Marian Figueras, Director of Telecommunications and Media Microsoft Ibérica, has emphasized the productivity of employees and organizations can get with these technologies and services Business Productivity Online Suite. The head was of relevance is the big bet of the company’s cloud computing software for the immediate future. Thus, although traditionally focus on the desktop will try to “move 90% of services to the cloud in a year.”

To demonstrate the growing commitment of both companies with cloud computing and familiarize them with their use firms launched a campaign on Facebook where each customer could inflate a balloon to “get to the cloud,” a move that has materialized in the rise Physical these balloons into the sky with a small office in tow. Also, the website is also available www.tuoficinaenlanube.com for customers to resolve their doubts about these services

Cryptome site published a leaked version of the manual used by Microsoft to monitor violators of its various online services and transmit information to authorities.

The manual consists of 22 pages where Microsoft spells out its internal monitoring procedures for Hotmail, Live Messenger and Xbox Live and how that information on criminal activity is transmitted to the competent authorities. The leak revealed that Microsoft retains the IP and e-mail information from users.

In the case of Xbox Live Microsoft monitors closely the activities of its users online:

- Take part gamer
- Credit Card Number
- Phone Number
- Name and surname plus postal code
- Serial number of the Xbox and if it is used on Xbox Live
- E-mail account
- IP History for the whole duration of the gamer tag

Wikileaks takes the case

By some accounts shortly after Cryptome disclosed the information Microsoft would have required the closure of the site. Because their accommodation was in charge of Network Solutions and it shall be closed arguing breach of the rules for registration and operation.

However, in today’s digital reality is virtually impossible to remove Internet information already made public. Therefore, Wikileaks announced its intention to host the Cryptome site outside the United States if necessary, as explained in this tweet.

Microsoft, meanwhile, has issued a statement where he explains that like other suppliers, the company is obliged to provide authorities with information about criminal investigations. As such, the company assumes the responsibility they have towards the authorities, but states that protects the privacy of its users. He points out it did not request to disable the Network Solutions site Cryptome, but merely asked that its contents were removed from the site reserved.

Both sign a cross licensing agreement whereby each company may use the patents of another company. The movement of markets and new business makes strange bed fellows. This is the case of Microsoft and Amazon, who just signed a partnership whereby each company will have access to the patent portfolio of the opposite. This contract includes all licenses related to the Kindle reader and server technology, open source digital repository.

Details of the agreement were not disclosed and no one knows exactly what products the IP would be willing to share Redmond. What they have reported since the signing of Steve Ballmer is that this is not the first contract of this type and they have already signed similar agreements around 600, although Amazon privileges undoubtedly will be higher than the previously established any company.

The motivations for Microsoft on this collaboration could go for the improvement of its cloud computing and server technology through Amazon Simple Storage Service. Also access to Amazon’s e Reader technology could help Microsoft to develop a device that could make the shadow of Apple iPad

Choose wisely is a small application for Mac OS X that will allow us to select the browser with which we open the link. It works when accessing an Internet address from the chat client, mail client or a shortcut, to give some examples.

The operation of the program is quite simple, the first thing to do after downloading, it set it as default browser. To do this we run the Safari browser and from the Preferences Choose Wisely will indicate that, from now, our default browser.

Now, whenever you click on a link in any program other than a browser will display the selection menu. To add to Choose Wisely browsers you simply drag its icon from the Applications folder.

The number of browsers can be configured in the application is limited to between five and viewing options that allows to display the version of each one of them and the address being accessed.

Choose wisely works in the latest version of Mac OSX, Snow Leopard and can be downloaded for free from the author’s website. The instructions on the page are in German, although as you have seen their operation is quite simple and intuitive.

The application is quite simple and the less useful, especially now that users coming from Windows are more used to choose the browser. Leaving that point aside, it is still quite useful when testing pages in different browsers and can open them quickly.
